FATAL CRASH: 83-year-old woman dies after collision

An 83-year-old woman has died following a car crash on a main Mansfield road.

The Mercedes she was travelling in was in collision with a Toyota Yaris on the A617 Marr Road at around 2.30pm on Sunday, March 6.

The 83-year-old was taken to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre in a critical condition, but died on Thursday evening.

The driver and another passenger of the Mercedes — a man and a woman — as well as the man who was driving the Yaris, were also treated at the QMC for serious injuries.

The Mercedes passengers remain there in stable conditions. The Yaris driver has since been discharged.

Officers investigating the incident think occupants of another car, a Ford Mondeo or similar model, may have been passed by the red Yaris at traffic lights on the A617 prior to the crash.

This vehicle is then thought to have turned off before the collision.
