Farm death case hearing

THE TRUSTEE of a local farm has appeared in court charged with not providing training after one of his employees died in a tree-felling accident.

George Michael Thornagh Foljambe, 77, from Mill Farm in Osberton, appeared before Worksop Magistrates Court charged with not providing James Kier Bryce and Christopher Fox with adequate training in health and safety when using chainsaws.

On 4th November 2009, Christopher Fox died after attempting to fell trees at Hodsock Farm.

The court heard how a tractor was being used to fell a tree, but the tree fell in the wrong direction and killed Mr Fox.

Magistrates sent the case to Nottingham Crown Court for trial at a later date.

Foljambe is yet to enter a plea.
