Fake Olympics tickets warning

The new tickets are made up of those returned by people who bought them in the first and second ballots last year.

Stringent anti-ticket touting measures make it an offence for anyone to sell tickets except through the official exchange, which will initially be open until 3rd February.

The official site is likely to be updated often with new tickets, so it’s worth checking back regularly if the events you are looking for are not available when you first visit the site.

Trading Standards’ East Midlands Scambusters Team manager Paul Gretton said, “The official London 2012 tickets website is the only legal way people can buy or sell Olympics tickets.”

“Anyone buying tickets from any other source - whether they are genuine or not - is likely to be refused admission to the event, so it’s just not worth taking the chance and wasting your money. Likewise, tickets you bought originally can be traced back to you if they are subsequently resold by illegal means.”

“If you are aware of any other website or individual selling genuine or counterfeit Olympics tickets, report it to Consumer Direct immediately on 08454 04 05 06.”
