Facebook threats sparked disorderly behaviour row

Jake Jordan Marston, 22, of Westfield Lane, pleaded guilty to using disorderly behaviour contrary to Section 5 of the Public Order Act.

Daniel Pietryka, prosecuting, told the court Marston arrived at his ex’s address on Pickard Street at 2.30pm on January 8.

He said: “There was shouting and banging on doors and windows. Mr Watson shouted ‘Come outside! I am going to smash your face in!’”

In interview, Marston told police he and the complainant, James Pepperday, had exchanged messages on Facebook and ‘various threats were made.’

Michael Little, mitigating, told the court Mr Pepperday had threatened to ‘pay someone to break Marston’s legs.’

“Mr Marston came to the house but Mr Pepperday did not open the door.

“He fully accepts his conduct is inappropriate.”

Magistrates gave him a six-month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £15.
