Christopher John Jordan was arrested after he stole a £35 phone charger from Boots in Mansfield on January 8.

While on police bail, he also stole a £50 adapter and a £25 bluetooth speaker from Maplins in the following days.

Zahra Hussain, mitigating, said: “His offending started in August last year when he was cautioned for theft.”

The court heard Jordan had been an air force engineer for 12 years before landing a job with BA Systems and had been living in Essex.

“He was due to get married in May 2015 but unfortunately he broke up with his partner. He says that his life has gone downhill since,” said Miss Hussain.

“He became depressed and moved back to his home town to live with his uncle. Unfortunately, he has resorted to heroin.”

In addition to the three thefts, Jordan, 32, of Stockwell Court, Mansfield, also pleaded guilty to failing to attend a drug assessment on January 13.

Magistrates imposed a nine-month community order on Jordan with six-months of drug rehabilitation and a five-day drug rehabilitation activity requirement.

He was ordered to pay costs of £170, compensation of £50 and a victim surcharge of £60.
