Quiet Bassetlaw village rocked by anti-social behaviour

Rowdy behaviour at a beauty spot in a village just outside Retford, has caused upset during the recent warm weather.

Several reports of anti-social behaviour around the riverbank in the village of Eaton have been made to both Bassetlaw Council and police, with issues of excessive noise, littering and behaviour that has had a negative impact on local residents and farmers, private landowners, and wildlife.

Police continue to patrol the area and visitors are asked to be considerate, as loud music and shouting can disturb people living nearby, and disrupt wildlife that depends on such habitats.

Discarded rubbish is an eyesore and can also pose a serious risk to animals and their environment.

Police have warned that, where appropriate, enforcement action may be taken against those responsible for anti-social behaviour.

They also ask that anyone visiting the location should pay heed to signage such as those indicating private land, as the owner may seek a civil prosecution for trespass, if you have not been given prior permission to be on the land.

Visitors are requested to respect local residents at all times, keep noise down, take litter home or place in a bin, be mindful of wildlife and the natural environment, and don’t light fires or barbecues as the location isn’t suitable.

Anyone who does witness persistent anti-social behaviour should report it to Bassetlaw Council ASB Team on https://orlo.uk/HYOGA or if you believe a crime is happening or that one has taken place, report it to the police on 101/999.
