Environment crime policy

Bassetlaw Council will discuss a zero tolerance approach to environmental crime at a meeting next week.

The local authority will look at a draft policy at its cabinet meeting on Tuesday 11th January.

It will be used to provide “practical guidance and consistency” for enforcement officers.

Dog fouling, fly posting and tipping, graffiti, litter and unauthorised distribution of free literature are all covered in the policy.

Action that can be taken against offenders include a warning letter, fixed penalty notice, a service of notice, formal caution and prosecution.
