NottS County Council is set to approve the amendments to the Home to School and Post 16 Transport policies, following consultation with schools, parents and certain groups with a special interest.
A public consultation was also carried out via the council website and if approved, the revised policies will come into effect in September.
The Home to School transport policy has been clarified and the Post 16 Transport Policy has been amended to ensure it is consistent with the Home to School policy. The age range for special transport has been extended from 21 to 25 for students with learning difficulties or disabilities, who are unable to travel unaccompanied on public transport.
Coun Philip Owen, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People’s Services said exceptional circumstances will be “considered on a case by case basis”.
