Editor’s Comment: Shop those who treat animals cruelly

Few things make my blood boil as much as the mistreatment of animals.

A Worksop man has just been in court for leaving his dogs without food and water as they roamed around the back garden in their own excrement.

This is a shocking and disgusting way to treat animals.

The dog owner was rightly banned from owning dogs, but only for five years.

My view is that those that mistreat animals in this way should be banned from keeping them for life.

The sentences for people who are cruel to their pets should be far more severe.

The RSPCA do a fantastic job in bringing these cases to court.

It shouldn’t be on a charity to lead these sorts of investigations, but unfortunately that is the situation we find ourselves in.

Sadly, if it was left to the authorities then cruelty to animals would be off the scale and the perpetrators would largely go unpunished.

The fact of the matter is some people are just not fit to keep animals.

If you suspect any animals are being mistreated, then I urge you to get in touch with the RSPCA.
