A few years ago plans to revitalise the former Vesuvius site with a huge supermarket and brand new ground for Worksop Town got many in the town excited.
Hundreds of new jobs would be created and our local football club would have a new home.
Years on, time is now running out for these plans.
In fact, if I was a betting man I’d wager that it will never happen.
It doesn’t please me to say this, but that’s how I feel.
It is sad, because it seems the town is set to miss out on what would have been a great opportunity.
The plans became a political football, and if they go the way they seem to be going, it will be the local economy that will be the loser.
Frankly, it has all become a bit of a farce and hasn’t painted Worksop in a very good light.
I hope that I’m wrong and that these new jobs and sporting facilities can be salvaged, but the clock is now ticking down, and this whole sorry saga could soon come to a disappointing end.
