Flights to and from Sharm el-Sheikh have been cancelled by East Midlands Airport and Robin Hood Airport, over fears that a Russian plane was brought down there by a bomb.
Airlines which provide flights to the resort from the two airports have officially cancelled all outbound flights to the resort until at least Thursday, November 12.
This follows an announcement from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), advising against all but essential travel to Sharm el-Sheikh - causing all flights to and from the area to be officially suspended across the country.
This has also left thousands of people stranded overseas.
Spokesmen for both airports confirmed the flights were currently suspended.
They also recommended any passengers with queries and concerns to contact their airline directly.
Thomson runs flights from both the East Midlands and Robin Hood airports and has already suspended several flights over the next seven days.
The airline is giving full refunds to people who booked to travel to the resort in this period.
Overseas resort teams are regularly visiting hotels in Sharm el-Sheikh to keep customers updated on the situation.
A Thomson spokesman said: “We are doing everything we can to assist customers as we manage this evolving situation.
Thomas Cook, which provides flights to Sharm el-Sheikh from East Midlands Airport, is also giving customers who were due to travel in this time period the chance to cancel or re-book their holiday.
A spokesman said: “The health and safety of our customers and staff is our absolute priority, and we will be seeking to bring all 1,700 customers currently in resort back to the UK in due course.
“Our team in destination are dedicated to ensuring that all customers are as comfortable as possible until such a time as they fly home.”
Both companies have set up specific customer phone lines for people due to travel to Sharm el Sheikh up to and including Thursday.
The Thomson number is 01733 224 536 and the Thomas Cook number is 01733 224 520.
