Following a review of where best to deploy resources to improve performance and response times, EMAS approached the Fire & Rescue Authority (FRA) about the possibility of sharing premises at DFRS sites.

Eight DFRS fire stations have been identified as premises that are best suited for the co-location of fire engines and ambulances including in Clowne and Bolsover.

Roland Hosker, chair of the Fire and Rescue Authority, said: “This is a great opportunity for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service to work in collaboration with EMAS to achieve the vision of Making Derbyshire Safer. This collaboration supports the service in reducing operating costs and in improving the use of existing sites for the benefit of the communities of Derbyshire.”

Sue Noyes, chief executive of EMAS, said: “We are really pleased to be working in collaboration with DFRS on the introduction of Community Ambulance Stations.

“They will provide a safe, comfortable and appropriate rest area should a local crew have the opportunity to have a brief rest or a hot drink.”
