Dunham-on-Trent Parish Council, in conjunction with Ragnall, Darlton and Fledborough, applied to WREN for the grant for the improvement scheme.

Playdale Playgrounds are carrying out the work on the new park, which will feature swings, a zip wire, slide and a rotabout - a cross between a seesaw and a roundabout.

Kathryn Watkinson, Dun-ham-on-Trent parish councillor, said they were looking forward to celebrating the official opening the play park on Monday 27th May.

“It’s a much-needed facility for the village, and will be a great place for youngsters of all ages to meet and enjoy,” she said.

Coun Watkinson said the new play park came a year after a public consultation on what people would like to see in the village.

“We had the first phase of the park done two years ago and decided we wanted to extend it,” she said.

“We needed to show local support for the scheme, and after conducting surveys and questionnaires, we raised £3,712.40 towards the grant thanks to generous donations from local businesses and residents.”

“Our thanks go to them for all their help and support, without which this play park would not have been possible.”
