Drunk mum brokewindow with fist

A WORKSOP mum who smashed a pub window in drunken rage at being thrown out has been sentenced to a community order and fined.

Nicola Thackery, 29, of Carlton Road, admitted criminal damage at Worksop Magistrates’ Court last Thursday 28th February where she appeared with a bandage on her arm after the incident.

The court heard Thackery had been behaving in a drunken manner inside The Cannon pub on Carlton Road, Worksop, on 13th February 2013.

When the landlady asked her to leave, Thackery became argumentative and had to be ejected from the pub.

But she kept coming back again and again.

“The defendant repeatedly became more abusive and on the final occasion knocked over four pints of beer,” said Ruth Snowdin, prosecuting.

When she was thrown out one last time, Thackery punched a window, causing it to smash.

Defending, David Verity said the offence had happened while she was going through a marriage break-up, and she was drinking more than she normally would.

“In a state of frustration, agitation, upset and through drink she lashed out and hit the window,” he said.

“She has apologised and shown remorse.”

Mr Verity said Thackery lived with her three young children. He said she had broken her knuckles in the incident and was not able to work.

Magistrates imposed a 12 month community order with supervision, 80 hours unpaid work and six months alcohol treatment.

She must also pay £400 compensation and £60 victim surcharge.
