Drunk and disorderly dad called police on himself in Kimberley

Lee Cameron Parkes, 23, of Bodmin Drive, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly on Main Street, Kimberley, at 6.20am on December 25 2015, at Nottingham Magistrates Court.

Daniel Pietryka, prosecuting, said: “He called the police and said he wanted to get run over. They found him in the middle of the road.

“Police received two calls from members of the public reporting there had been a man throwing cans of beer.

“He was also swearing and he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.”

Ran Johal, mitigating, said Parkes had a young child whom he had tried unsuccessfully to contact.

The drunk and disorderly charge put him in breach of a conditional order made when he breached a restraining order imposed in August 2014.

The court heard he was now in the process of arranging contact with the child through a solicitor.

Mr Johal said: “He went out on Christmas Eve and consumed a considerable amount of alcohol.”

Presiding magistrate, Eric Baker, said: “Obviously you were feeling very upset on this particular day but that doesn’t excuse the fact that the police had to be involved.

“You don’t want to be back in court again. We are taking a more lenient view - that’s not going to be the case next time.”

He was fined £80 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20.
