Drummingup newactivities

PUPILS have been making a right song and dance at Woodsetts Primary.

Youngsters at the school took part in African drumming and dancing sessions as part of a range of activities organised for a multicultural week.

Paul Butler and Tongesayi Gumbo from Drummers United, a drumming workshop, visited the school to introduce pupils to African instruments and how to play them.

Throughout the week the pupils learnt about various countries and cultures around the world such as China, India, Australia and Africa.

They took part in lots of different activities including face painting, instrument making, African food tasting and clothes and jewellery designing.

Lindsay Matthews, foundation leader and RE co-ordinator, organised the multicultural week.

“The children have thoroughly enjoyed it,” she said.
