BASSETLAW has turned a corner on the heroin epidemic but is facing fresh challenges with alcohol and new drugs - an inquiry led by MP John Mann heard.

Hospital and police chiefs gave evidence at the two-day hearing which also saw witness accounts from GPs, pub landlords, hostel and church support workers and drug users.

The inquiry came 10 years after Mr Mann launched a major probe into why Bassetlaw had been dubbed the ‘heroin hot spot’ of the East Midlands.
