Lewis Max Machalski, 22, of Common Lane, admitted shoving his mother on March 27 and causing criminal damage on March 17 when he punched two holes in her living room wall.

The studded wall was damaged following a verbal row with his mother’s partner about Machalski’s cannabis smoking, Mansfield Magistrates’ Court heard.

Ruth Snoddin, prosecuting, said: “Mr Machalski was allowed to return home on the basis that he improved his behaviour.”

But then ten days after the first incident, another row developed, the court heard.

“His mother felt that he wasn’t ready to move out because of his increasing reliance on cannabis,” said Ms Snoddin.

Machalski admitted pushed his mother after drinking two cans of strong lager.

Donna Pusglove, mitigating, said: “He wants to move away. He feels that if he is away from his family he could stand on his own two feet.

“He would like to get into work and stop smoking cannabis. He does realise it is something that he needs to stop doing to move forward in his life.”

Magistrates gave him a 12 month community order, with a six day rehabilitation activity requirement addressing anger management.

He was also ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work, pay £100 compensation for the damage and £50 to his mother, and £85 in costs.
