‘Drug habit’ addressed

A CARLTON woman who was caught growing cannabis in her back garden has been handed a supervision requirement for 12 months.

Police officers attended Rachel Nicholson’s home in Chichester Walk on Friday 8th June to find 25 pots of cannabis plants recently watered.

While at the address the 24-year-old told officers where they could find dry cannabis, Worksop Magistrates’ Court heard.

Faye Kelly, prosecuting, said: “The plants appeared to be in a healthy state. She is a cannabis user. She has a habit. To make it cheaper she grows her own plants.”

Ms Edwards, defending, said the offence was ‘out of character’: “She has used cannabis for two years.”
