Drink driver used mobile

DRINK driving while using a mobile phone has landed a man with a driving ban.

Dzigitas Milevicius, 40, of Beacon Hill Road, Newark admitted the offences which happened in Worksop on 25th November last year.

Worksop Magistrates’ Court heard how police could smell alcohol on his breath when they stopped him. He failed a roadside breath test and was arrested. At the police station another breath test read 77mcgs alcohol in 100mls breath - more than twice the legal limit, which is 35mcgs.

Defending, David Verity said his client sincerely apologised. He claims he had drunk two beers before driving to visit a friend in Worksop who had called to say she was upset.

Magistrates banned him for 17 months and fined him a total of £365, including court costs.
