Drink drive ban for Ravenshead jewellery boss

Carolyn Holland, 50, of Haddon Road, admitted driving with excess alcohol at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

A breath test revealed she had 121 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, when the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Ruth Snodin, prosecuting, said her blue Mercedes was stopped by police after she clipped the kerb on Mansfield Road, in Ravenshead, on the evening of Sunday, June 19.

She said: “She told police that she decided to drive a mile and a half to take her dog for a walk.”

Greta Percival, of the probation service, said Holland, who runs her own bespoke jewellery business in Nottingham, was receiving medication for depression following the end of her marriage last year and the death of her father in January.

Maria Moore, mitigating, said: “For the last couple of years she had quite a traumatic period. She was extremely thankful that she had not caused any incidents.

“This was a very high reading. She calls this a wake-up call. She requires specialist intervention.”

Magistrates banned her for 36 months and gave her a six-month community order with 60 hours of unpaid work.

She was fined £55 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30.
