Dramatic pictures show extent of 'large fire' at industrial estate in Bircotes

Pictures released by the fire service show the extent of the blaze which ripped through a building in Bircotes last night.

The fire broke out at Plum Tree Road industrial estate at around 5.30pm yesterday.

At its height crews from Worksop, Retford, Harworth, Mansfield, Edlington, Staveley, Rotherham and Doncaster battled to extinguish the fire.

This evening Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the blaze is finally out.

Ranby prisoner faces drug charges at crown court

Crews are due to return this evening to inspect the site.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “We currently have no presence at the incident on Plum Tree Road, after crews extinguished the fire.

“A fire investigation has been completed.”

Earlier this afternoon, officers asked people to stay away from the site.

They said: “Following this incident we ask that the public keeps away from the site.

"The footpath behind the industrial estate is currently closed and will remain so for at least another 24 hours due to possible structural collapse caused by the fire damage at the unit.”
