The new initiative was designed to get the town’s Saturday outdoor car boot and market bustling again. And it worked. Charities were able to host a stall free of charge, and it is now likely to become a monthly event.

The market place was bustling, and people were particularly interested in the birds of prey on display with Wath Animal Rescue. Other charities represented were Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, Worksop British Heart Foundation, Salvation Army, Thurcroft Cancer Research, Age UK, MacMillan and Rotherham Counselling Services.

Market co-ordinator Stephen Borkowski said: “The day was a big success. We had a lot of interest and hope to repeat it in a few weeks’ time.”

The next charity market bonanza is on Saturday 29th June. Contact Stephen on 01909 567641 for details.
