The song - ‘Santa Clause, am I naughty or nice?’ – has been released by father of two, Paul Ballington, to support the North Anston hospice and help children and young people from the region who have a shortened life expectancy.

It has also impressed judges at this year’s UK Songwriting Contest - one of the biggest songwriting competitions in the world - and has now been shortlisted to the semi-finals of the Christmas category.

Paul, who has been dubbed the ‘Singing Plumber’ has also recorded a video for the charity single, which includes a catchy chorus sung by Anston Park Infants School.

The funny video features his two children Thomas, 7, and Lana, 4, getting up to all sorts of mischief such as rolling a hamster down the stairs, putting his little sister on eBay and filling the washing machine with baked beans.

“I wrote the Christmas song last year but a few months ago I was approached by a film company asking if they could make a professional video for it,” Paul said.

“It was a brilliant experience and a chance to raise money for a local charity so I jumped at the chance. The fact that my children were involved as well was just the icing on the cake, they were brilliant actors and true professionals.”

“I love singing and making people laugh and hopefully the light hearted lyrics will put a smile on people’s faces this Christmas and raise some much needed money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.”

All funds raised will go towards providing vital care and support to children with shortended life expectancy and their families.

Gail Parkin, fundraiser at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “We really appreciate that Paul has decided to support Bluebell Wood with this fantastic song.”

“It has certainly got the feel good factor. I hope once people have heard it they will want to download it and help raise valuable funds.”
