Digging up facts on uni

A WORKSOP student got a unique insight into life at the University of Cambridge - by taking part in an archaeological dig in its grounds.

Jack Smith, 16, an A-level student at Wales High School, was one of 18 sixth formers from across the UK selected to take part in the excavation.

When not on site, Jack and the other student archaeologists stayed at Homerton College for a taste of life as a Cambridge undergraduate.

Jack took part in the four-day residential to help make his mind up about what to do after A-levels.

“I thought this would give me an idea of what I want to do next,” he said. “I’m deciding between going to uni or getting a job, and I’m also thinking about the forces. It’s made me really want to go to uni now.”
