Designers for the day

The pupils spent two classes with the Gainsborough based organisation and were given the chance to be designers for the day.

A competition was also created in order to understand what the children wanted to see from Smiffy’s costumes in the future.

Smiffy’s asked the children their favourite book characters and costumes they had dressed up as in the past.

The classes were targeted at five to seven-year-olds to show the wide range of ideas, fabrics and colours that children of that age found appealing.

The winner of the competition, seven-year-old Adam Boddy, was presented with his costume to keep and the three runners up each received a goody bag filled with accessories and toys from Smiffy’s.

Smiffy’s hopes to continue to develop its relationship with the school in order to gain insight into what children want.

Marketing executive Chrissy Law said Smiffy’s hopes to be able to provide the children with what they want during popular costume purchasing times such as Book Week and Christmas.

It also saw the experience as a way to help costume development and give the children a day of fun and creativity.
