Derbyshire: Council signs pensioners code

Derbyshire County Council has signed up to the National Pensioners Convention Dignity Code.

The group works to promote the welfare and interests of pensioners, both now and in the future and ensure they are treated with dignity and respect.

The code calls for respect for individuals to make up their own minds and respect for people’s habits.

Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care Councillor, Clare Neill, said: “It was a pleasure to sign the Dignity Code.”

“Treating people with dignity costs us nothing and I will make sure that we raise awareness of the code with our own staff and those companies we pay to provide services to the people of Derbyshire.”

The county council launched the Derbyshire Dignity Campaign in 2011 with the NHS.
