Dental practice plans to move across street

GAINSBOROUGh dentists Genesis Dental Care have big expansion plans to move premises, into units across the road.

The practice, at 19 Market Street, has submitted plans to West Lindsey District Council to move in to numbers 10 - 18 Market Street.

The development requires a change of use agreement for the properties, to change them from retail and office space to a dental practice.

And the new facility would be based mainly above the shop units below.

Two units, Davies Todd Limited Opticians and Home Start, would remain in use, with access and frontage to the surgery through numbers 10, 14 and 16 Market Street.

Genesis said in its application that it was looking to expand because it had outgrown its current Gainsborough premises.

It also states that Genesis could risk losing the surgery and its NHS contract if more space was not found to create improved decontamination rooms - as recently required by healthcare regulator the Care Quality Commission.

The statement continues: “There is a pressing need for the applicant, Genesis Dental Care, to move out of its existing facility on Market Street to larger premises at the earliest opportunity. The range of buildings at 10-18 Market Street provides this opportunity and the move will safeguard a key healthcare service in the town.”

Genesis offers NHS and private dentistry at its Gainsborough practice.

It also has 11 dental practices in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, with three more due to open soon in Hull, Ilkley and Waterlooville.
