Deadline looms for Bassetlaw council garden waste recycling scheme

Bassetlaw residents have until Tuesday, July 31, to sign up for the district council's garden waste collection scheme for the 2018 season.

Councillor Julie Leigh said: “More people than ever are choosing to recycle their garden waste through the council’s collection service, which means that we can recycle more and reduce the amount of waste that is sent for incineration.

“The warm weather has helped people get out in their gardens more this summer, so to take advantage of this fantastic service, please sign up.”

Since March this year, around 7,850 Bassetlaw residents have helped to recycle more than 1,400 tonnes of garden waste that would otherwise have been sent for incineration.

If you would like to register for the service, it will cost £30 which includes a 240-litre wheelie bin and collections every two weeks until December 14.

The bins can be used to recycle grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, leaves, small branches and twigs, dead plants, weeds and cut flowers from domestic gardens only.
