As well as a full programme of horse racing, there was a host of attractions to keep the whole family entertained today (Sunday, July 10), including fun fair rides and shows, as well as the star of print and screen, Paddington Bear.

Paddington was around the site at regular intervals throughout the day, meeting and greeting children and posing for photographs.

Ashley Booker, Chad group editor, said: “The Chad Family Fun Day is always a highlight of the year, with quality racing alongside a host of fun activities.”

“I will be having a bet on the horses.”

John and Freda Taylor were keep their fingers crossed that the day stayed dry.

John said: “It’s been brilliant so far. I’ve had a burger and a coffee and I’m picking my winners.

“Fingers crossed there will be no rain.”

Rob Evans was also hoping to pick himself a winning horse.

He said: “We are having a good time. This is our first time and how fun the day is will depend on how I do on the horses!

And a lady, who did not want to be named, was enjoying her first time at the racecourse.

She said: “It’s been nice to people watch. This is the first time I have been here. I have been to Colwick Racecourse before for a hen do so I’ll be doing a bit of a comparison.”
