Day at the races was fun for all the family
As well as a full programme of horse racing, there was a host of attractions to keep the whole family entertained today (Sunday, July 10), including fun fair rides and shows, as well as the star of print and screen, Paddington Bear.
Paddington was around the site at regular intervals throughout the day, meeting and greeting children and posing for photographs.

Hide AdAshley Booker, Chad group editor, said: “The Chad Family Fun Day is always a highlight of the year, with quality racing alongside a host of fun activities.”
Other attractions included a children’s fancy dress competition with the theme of children’s TV characters and a first prize of £50 Love2Shop vouchers.
Jo Hopewell was there with her family.
She said: “It’s been nice. We have never been before. It is something different to bring the kids to.
“We have been on some of the rides and we have brought a picnic. We are having a lovely day.
“We have come with all the family.”

Hide AdJohn Carr said: “We are having a good time. We have been lots of times. It’s a great fun day.
“We normally come with the grandchildren but they’re on holiday. There are about 20 of us all together.
“I will be having a bet on the horses.”
John and Freda Taylor were keep their fingers crossed that the day stayed dry.
John said: “It’s been brilliant so far. I’ve had a burger and a coffee and I’m picking my winners.
“We have been before. It’s a good family day out.
“Fingers crossed there will be no rain.”
Rob Evans was also hoping to pick himself a winning horse.

Hide AdHe said: “We are having a good time. This is our first time and how fun the day is will depend on how I do on the horses!
“It’s a lovely day out.”
And a lady, who did not want to be named, was enjoying her first time at the racecourse.
She said: “It’s been nice to people watch. This is the first time I have been here. I have been to Colwick Racecourse before for a hen do so I’ll be doing a bit of a comparison.”
