Daniel takes win in speed judging

GAINSBOROUGH Aegir Cycling Club’s first speed judging contest was won by Daniel Nicholson, with Trevor Halstead in second place.

The event was held on a cool morning with a light north east breeze, and time keeper Dave Day directed the group to the speed judging circuit at Upton long Lane.

With watches, computers and mobile phones handed in to the time keeper, the cyclists were set off at one minute intervals to ride the 4.4 mile circular route.

Results: 1st, 6pts, Daniel Nicholson – chose 3 laps in 63 minutes, his time was 63 minutes 16 seconds, 16 seconds slow; 2nd, 5pts, Trevor Halstead – chose 4 laps in 72 minutes, his time was 68 minutes 39 seconds, 3 minutes 21 seconds fast; 3rd, 4pts, Pete Hanks – chose 3 laps in 60 minutes, his time was 56 minute 10 seconds, 3 minutes 50 seconds fast; 4th, 3 pts, Michael Dawson – chose 3 laps in 70 minutes, his time was 60 minutes 03 seconds, 9 minutes 03 seconds fast; 5th 2pts, Joe Smith – chose 3 laps in 70 minutes, his time was 63 minute 43 seconds, 6 minutes 17 seconds fast; 6th, 1pt – Paul Reynolds chose 3 laps in 60 minutes, his time was 47 minutes 17 seconds, 12 minutes 43 seconds fast.

On Sunday 4th November three riders, Jullian Hesp, Jordan Skelly and Matt Hindmarsh, took part in a 50 mile sportive event.

The Evans ride event was based at Warsop in Notts.

The riders completed the ride in very respectable times, especially since it was Jordan and Jullian’s first sportive event.

The riders said the event was a credit to the organisers and was set in beautiful surroundings taking in Sherwood Forest.

On 11th November there will be multiple option of rides, starting from Roseway in Gainsborough at 9.20am including a Remembrance Sunday ride to Scotter.
