Dance success on Blackpool stage

TRIUMPHANT dancers from Rebecca’s Dance Studios returned home with a clutch of awards after wowing judges in a national competition in Blackpool.

Principal Rebecca Doona said this week she was overwhelmed by the achievement of her three troupes, most of whom only took up dancing when she opened the dance school in Carlton just over a year ago.

Rebecca took more than 50 dancers from across Bassetlaw to the event at Blackpool Winter Gardens, the biggest event of the year in the Association of American Dancing calendar.

Three troupes of dancers competed, the youngest dancer being just five-years-old, on the country’s biggest stage at Blackpool Opera House.

The Babes Troupe won first place trophy in the New Entry category, the Junior Troupe were awarded fourth place and the Senior Troupe won second place in the New Entry category with a tribal dance.

Rebecca said: “The girls have been training weekly since May so to see their hard work and talent finally rewarded was wonderful.”

“Everyone was ecstatic, we had a huge following of support with us in Blackpool for the weekend which gave the girls a great boost.”
