Cyclist dies following A1 collision

A cyclist has died following a collision on the A1.

The collision, involving the male cyclist and a lorry, happened on the northbound carriageway of the A1 near Blyth at about 4.15am today (Friday 6th April).

The northbound carriageway was closed until about 1.15pm while initial enquiries were carried out.

The cyclist, believed to be 61 years old, was taken to Bassetlaw Hospital where he later died.

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call the Crash Investigation Team on 101 extension 800 2225 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
