Lee Richardson assaulted the man when he stole £164 of razors from Boots, on Bridge Street, on September 14, last year.

He also took £20 cans of deodorant, worth £38, from Boyes, on Carolgate, on September 8, and seven toy dolls worth £116 from Morrisons, on Kilton Road, on September 16.

He admitted the thefts but denied the assault and was convicted in his absence when he failed to appear for a trial on February 24, this year.

Richardson smashed the handset of a public phone box in Bridge Place, causing £172 of damage, on November 1, last year.

He also stole £78 of deodorant on January 12, and £23 of aftershave on January 20, both from B&M Bargains.

On January 15 in Mansfield, he stole £68 of football stickers and toys from B&M Bargains, and a pair of £34 goalkeeper’s gloves from Sports Direct.

His spree ended after he stole £63 of coffee from the One Stop Shop, on Retford Road, Manton, on February 24.

He was jailed for 14 weeks for the assault and received an additional six weeks for the thefts, when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court, on March 4.

A three-year Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from shops in Worksop town centre was also made.

The court heard the offending was aggravated by his previous record.

Richardson, 43, of Ely Close, was also ordered to pay £100 of compensation to the man he assaulted.
