Worksop man arrested over stolen mini-digger

A Worksop man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a mini-digger.

The digger was reported as being stolen from Woodhouse Lane, Bolsover, shortly before 7.15pm on Thursday.

A patrol officer then spotted a van towing a mini-digger – which matched the details given on the report – on a trailer on the A60, heading towards the A619 near to Darfoulds.

Officers followed the vehicle until it was abandoned in the Norton area of Nottinghamshire.

Further enquiries revealed the van had been reported stolen from Peveril Road, Chesterfield, on June 10.

Police arrested a 21-year-old man, from Worksop, near to the scene on suspicion of theft of the mini-digger and the van.

He remains in police custody.

Derbyshire police would like to hear from anyone with any information about the crime.
