Worksop man and woman sentenced for dealing crack cocaine

Diana Wood, 45, of Anston Avenue, and Nigel Keith Driffill, 52, of Raines Avenue, pleaded guilty to charges of possession and supplying Class A drugs.

They appeared in court for sentencing on Friday (10 January).

Wood was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, and was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.

Driffill was sentenced to 21 months in prison, suspended for two years.

The pair originally appeared at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court after a warrant was carried out in Kilton Road, Worksop, in February 2018 following reports of suspicious activity at the address.

During the search, officers seized drugs, mobile phones and a number of other items. Forensic tests confirmed the drugs to be amphetamines and crack cocaine.

Worksop Town Centre Beat Manager PC Glenn Turner, who led the case, said: “This warrant and investigation sends a clear message that both the police and the Worksop community will not tolerate the use and supply of drugs in the area.

“Drug use and supply will not only land you in legal trouble, but also has potentially devastating impacts on people’s lives, so I would like to thank everyone involved in carrying out the warrant at the time and getting this case to court.

“We would also like to reassure people that reports of drug use and drug-related activity will be taken seriously and we will work hard to make sure those involved are held accountable in court.”
