9Line, an organised team of responders serving Worksop, said one of their volunteers spotted the group ‘armed with and actively using’ the frightening device on Bridge Place yesterday (Tuesday, March 9).

They also tweeted a picture of the homemade ‘flamethrower’ which consisted of a lighter and can of spray deodorant.

9Line slammed the group’s ‘complete and utter disregard for the public and themselves’ and claimed the offenders ‘couldn’t see a problem’ and ‘had the gall’ to demand the device back after it was confiscated from them.

The Guardian contacted Nottinghamshire Police for further information. However, the force said it had no record of the incident.

9Line told us that ‘all necessary actions were performed’ after the incident.
