James Gill, of Station Road, Arksey, Doncaster, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, four assaults on emergency workers, two counts of theft, criminal damage and drink-driving. On July 22 he was sentenced to 10 years and nine months and banned from driving for five years.

9. Faisal Rafiq

Faisal Rafiq, 34, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to one count of burglary and two counts of fraud by false representation. He was also found to have committed a further offence during the operational period of a suspended sentence order imposed in November 2021. He was jailed for a total of nine months and 10 weeks when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on August 2, and was also ordered to pay £51.26 compensation.
