Computer con artists have been reported to police after targeting unsuspecting residents in our area.

People have been contacted by the culprits over the phone, telling them that their computer is faulty and requires repair.

A police spokesman said: “This is a means to either get your personal records on your computer or falsely or overcharging for a repair to your computer.

“If you say to them I haven’t got a computer, they will hang up.”

Police are advising people not to give personal or computer details over the phone to cold callers, and should contact the police on 101.
