Police swoop on suspected knife man in Worksop after blade threat reports

Police swooped on a man suspected of wielding a knife in Worksop on Friday after reports a male suspect was threatening people with a blade around Forest Yard and Norfolk Street.

Officers were scrambled at around 3.50pm - catching up with the 27-year-old nearby after he fled the scene.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.

Following searches near the scene he was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled drugs.

Detective Sergeant Ricky Ellis, said: "Response teams quickly attended this incident resulting in a speedy arrest.

"Further enquiries resulted in the man also being arrested in connection with some serious drug offences.

"Our officers will always investigate the full circumstances around an incident and will leave no stone unturned in order to gather all pieces of evidence."

The man remains in custody while enquiries continue.
