Officers from East Bassetlaw said residents were seen ‘drinking and gathered around a fire’ on a street in Retford in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, April 5).

They posted in their Facebook page: “On seeing the smoke from the road and going to investigate, numerous people ran off into nearby houses.

“Can we remind you that social distancing is still in place and relevant even at midnight.

“We are very disappointed to have to post this after a very quiet day in Retford Town Centre where people seemed to be listening to the Government advice.”

Officers added they would be visiting the street to offer advice to residents.

They added: “Please stay at home and help stop the spread of this virus.”
