Police raid in Bassetlaw uncovers stolen cars, dangerous weapons and drugs

A haul of stolen vehicles and dangerous weapons were recovered by police carrying out a search warrant in Retford.

Officers from the Bassetlaw Reacher team executed the warrant at an address in Great North Road, Retford, shortly after 8.30am on Tuesday, May 3.

Inside they found around 25 cannabis plants in a downstairs room – all of which will now be destroyed.

On closer inspection officers also found two machetes and a knife which were immediately seized.

Officers then went on to seize two Land Rovers, a trailer, vehicle chasses, a quad bike, motorcycle and various car parts – all of which are suspected to have been stolen.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and production and supply of a controlled drug.

Inspector Hayley Crawford, district commander for Bassetlaw, said: “This was another great find by our local intelligence officer and Operation Reacher officers.

"Not only were they successful in taking drugs off our streets, they also seized dangerous weapons and suspected stolen vehicles and parts.

“This was a really successful warrant for our team and shows that we will always act on any intelligence we receive to take weapons, drugs and track down stolen goods.

“Cannabis cultivation in particular is a very serious offence that is often linked to organised criminal gangs and this raid serves as a warning to anyone involved in the drugs trade that we are watching and we could very well be paying you a visit soon.

“The seizure of these dangerous weapons comes as the force is once again about to support the Operation Sceptre campaign alongside our partners in order to educate, eradicate and target those who carry and use weapons on our streets.
