Police dog leads to arrest of two men following attempted fuel theft in Worksop

A police dog has helped sniff out two suspected fuel thieves.

Two men have been arrested after police were called to a report of attempted diesel theft from a lorry parked overnight off the A57 in Worksop.

The men fled from the scene when police arrived at around 11pm last night (May 5) but the police dog led officers to an address.

The suspects aged 26 and 27 were arrested on suspicion of theft and remain in police custody.

Neighbourhood Inspector Neil Bellamy said: "This type of crime is completely unacceptable and something that we take really seriously in these hot spot areas.

“We have operations in place to target offenders and direct resources to track down potential suspects."

"The team last night were instantly on scene as soon as we got the call, they acted quickly along with our police dog leading to the swift arrest."
