Police appeal after woman handed over 'concerning' amount of cash to man in Retford

Police are concerned for a woman who handed over a large amount of cash to a man who ‘pestered’ her for money in Retford- and are appealing for information on her identity.

A member of the public reported the incident, on Carolgate near to the cut through that leads to Beardsall’s Row, at around 2.15pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday, April 22).

The report said that a male was pestering a female for money.

A spokesperson for East Bassetlaw Police said: “While we see lots of people willingly giving money to individuals in town daily, this female has reportedly handed over an amount of cash that concerned us, because of this we have recovered the money.

“The female is described as having brown hair and wearing a blue coat. It has been mentioned to us that she possibly has a medical condition that makes her shake slightly.

“If you think you know the female described orsaw what happened and wish to speak to us, call 101.”
