Pepper spray fine

A MAN had pepper spray for protection against dogs when he was out running, a court heard.

Carl Bland, 31, had been attacked by dogs on several occasions so had taken the pepper spray with him, Worksop magistrates were told.

Bland, of Fourth Avenue, Edwinstowe, admitted possessing a weapon containing a pepper based irritant agent.

The court heard that he had not taken the spray out for some time and had forgotten it was in his wardrobe.

Police officers found the spray, which he bought on ebay, when searching his house on a drugs warrant.

Bland was given a £100 fine. He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and £15 victim surcharge.

Magistrates ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the pepper spray.
