Money tins stolen in Worksop house burglary

Two money tins were stolen in a house burglary after an intruder climbed in through a ground floor window while the occupant was out.

A 34-year-old man was arrested shortly after the incident, which happened in Netherton Road, Worksop, at between 11am and 2.30pm yesterday (Saturday 12 September).

The man is currently being questioned by officers on suspicion of burglary and possession of a controlled substance - believed to be synthetic cannabinoid.

Police Investigator Rimsha Mahmood, who is leading the investigation, said: "Nottinghamshire Police treats burglary incredibly seriously. As well as response officers, the force has burglary teams covering the city and county who are dedicated to tackling this type of crime.

"Burglary can be very upsetting for members of the community when people have been inside their homes and taken their much loved possessions."

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 471 of 12 September 2020.
