Man found on third floor window ledge by cops probing assault in Retford

Police found a man perched on a third floor window ledge when they responded to reports that a woman had been attacked in Retford.

Officers attended a property in Bridegate shortly before 8.45pm Friday after receiving calls about a disturbance.

On arrival, police found evidence of an assault and searched the property – eventually finding the man on the window ledge.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody.

The victim suffered injuries to her hands and legs.

Detective Sergeant Paul Parish, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “On arrival officers saw clear evidence of an assault and had reason to believe that a suspect was still on the scene.

“After searching the property their attention was drawn to a window and a suspect was located.”

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 731 of October 30.
