Man found cowering in woods in Harworth arrested on suspicion of three burglaries

A man found cowering in the woods in Harworth was arrested by police on suspicion of carrying out three burglaries in the area.

The arrest was made in woodland in the Harworth and Bircotes area yesterday (Wednesday, May 5).

A spokesperson for East Bassetlaw Police said: “Officers from Operation Reacher along with Response and Neighbourhoods officers have arrested a male in the Harworthand Bircotes area on suspicion of three dwelling burglaries.

"Two of which took place in our force area, Harworth and Retford, and the other in South Yorkshire.

“The vehicles stolen from the Harworth and Retford burglaries have since been found and recovered by polic.

The spokesperson said it was the second arrest in a number of weeks for burglaries on Bassetlaw.

They added: “Ironically this male decided he would hide in the same woods as the last one. It’s not that difficult when you keep hiding in the same place.”

The male was remanded in custody and investigatons are ongoing.
