Man charged after 'woman hit with a piece of wood' in Bassetlaw fight

A 22-year-old man has been remanded in custody after a fight in a Bassetlaw street.

Police were called to reports of an ‘altercation’ in Wilson Street, Retford at around 10.30pm on Monday (July 6).

A man had reportedly hit a woman with a bottle and also hit a man with a piece of wood during the incident.

Leon Lincoln, of no fixed abode in the Retford area, was arrested at the scene.

He was later charged with two counts of affray, two counts of assault by beating, three counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, actual bodily harm and wounding with intent.

He appeared at Mansfield Magistrates' Court yesterday (Wednesday July 8) and has been remanded to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court later this year on August 5.
