Man ‘bit police officer’s ear’ in Carlton-in-Lindrick

Police officers needed hospital treatment after a man allegedly attacked them in Carlton-in-Lindrick.

Officers were transporting a man home when he reportedly became aggressive in Hundred Acre Lane at around 12.20am on Friday.

The man allegedly grabbed an officer around the neck and bit his ear while the officer was driving.

The car was brought to a safe stop and another officer attempted to break up the incident.

He was then reported to have been headbutted, punched and kicked.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and remains in police custody for questioning.

The officers were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries and have since been discharged.

Sergeant Carl Holland, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officer assaults are totally unacceptable.

“We take these incidents very seriously and will ensure that they are investigated thoroughly.

“Appropriate action will then be taken against those who are found to be guilty of such offences.”
